Foaling Watch Update – March 20, 2025
🔹 Quick Status Overview 🔹

Overnight Camera Notes from the Remote Watch Service
The remote foal watch team at CRF Equine Services kept eyes on the mares and foal overnight and shared the following observations:
✔️ Dyana showed some signs of restlessness earlier in the night, spending time standing at her stall door, and they called the Horse Husband Stables team around 5:30am to let them know it looked like Dyana might be ready to start labor, but then, “It seems that Dyana has changed her mind.”
✔️ Audi laid down once and remained comfortable and content through the night—no concerns reported.
✔️ Surprise & Thirteen had another excellent night. Thirteen was observed kicking playfully at Surprise, feeling energetic and spunky! With their strong routine and no concerns, they’ve been removed from remote watch unless otherwise requested.
Thirteen: Indoor Energy, Curiosity, and New Toys
The weather brought a 30-degree drop, along with rain and wind, so all the horses stayed inside today.
Thirteen handled it beautifully. He was engaged and curious throughout the day, especially when the team came in to clean the stall. In recognition of his good behavior (and boundless energy), he was given some new enrichment toys to explore.
He’s leading well, staying bright, and already acting like a barn favorite. His friendly, interactive nature makes every day with him a joy.
Dyana: Signs of Progress, But Still Waiting
Around 5:30 AM, Dyana had us on high alert—she began rolling and getting up and down, showing behaviors consistent with early Stage 1 labor.
However, after some restlessness, she settled at her stall door and the activity tapered off. Still, it was encouraging to see her lay down at all, given that she hasn’t done so in several days.
Later in the day, Dyana became visibly more uncomfortable and began showing the same protective tendencies she exhibited just before and after foaling last year. To keep both her and the team safe, the Horse Husband Stables team fitted her with a halter full-time in preparation for delivery.
No new milk test was performed today since calcium had already surpassed 200 ppm and pH had dropped significantly in the last test. All signs still indicate she’s very close—it’s just a matter of when.
If she foals before midnight, she’ll match Surprise by delivering on her exact due date—making it two-for-two for the 2025 season so far.
With the cold front moving through and Dyana’s behavior continuing to shift, tonight could be the night. Stay tuned and keep watching the live cams—we’re getting closer!
